The Moon Collection
The phases of the Moon are the different ways the Moon looks from Earth over about a month. As the Moon orbits around the Earth, the half of the Moon that faces the Sun will be lit up. The different shapes of the lit portion of the Moon that can be seen from Earth are known as phases of the Moon. The phases of the moon symbolize immortality and eternity, enlightenment or the dark side of Nature herself. It might reflect inner knowledge, or the phases of man's condition on earth, since it controls the tides, the rains, the waters, and the seasons. It's thought that at the New Moon and Full Moon, like the tides, our emotions are pulled to the surface and feelings are heightened. What the science says: some researchers theorize that humans are reacting to subtle changes in the Earth's magnetic field that occur with the Moon phases.
